The end of another of Labor’s carbon cons | Herald Sun Andrew Bolt Blog

Savour this Age argument. Unachievable targets might inspire Victorians to ruin themselves faster, to be ahead of a purely imagined rush by others to ruin themselves as well. After all, there’s an advantage in being the first lemming off a cliff.

Here’s an alternative argument. The rest of the world has no realistic plan to make similar cuts themselves, and I doubt other Australian states will, either. After all, the great global warming panic is slowing dying, the world hasn’t warmed in a decade, and consumers here and in many Western democracies are more worried about the cost of living than grand green schemes to make them poorer. That means the “first mover” risks being the only mover, and will pay for it.
