Appeal to Authority by Norm Kalmanovitch | Climate Realists
The single greatest failure of science is what philosophers call “appeal to authority”, whereby the stature of a person allows statements made by that person to be taken as absolute fact when such statements are only opinions based on perception and have never been verified.
...
The entire climate change issue is nothing more than compounded “appeal to authority”. First Hansen used the authority of Arrhenius, then the IPCC used the authority of Hansen, then Gore used the authority of the IPCC, and now Chu has also used the authority of the IPCC and completely ignores his own fundamental knowledge that won him the Nobel Prize for Physics (ironically for investigations into a similar process). This is where the “appeal to authority” has to stop, because the President does not have the background to even question Chu about the validity of this conjecture.

Ecologists’ own goal: ozone saver is global warmer - Times Online
THE green movement’s greatest triumph – the abolition of ozone-destroying CFC gases in the 1980s – may become its biggest embarrassment because of research showing that their replacements are sharply accelerating global warming.

Greens told no alternative to fossil fuels - Times Online
LISTEN to ministers and green campaigners and you would think that we are on a happy path to greener energy, with renewable sources of power freeing us from reliance on fossil fuels.

It is a pipe dream, according to a leader of Saudi Arabia’s oil industry. Abdallah Jum’ah, who stepped down last year as chief executive of Saudi Aram-co, the state-owned oil company, said objective assessment of the world’s energy needs showed renewable resources would provide only a minute share of what was required. Oil, gas and coal would remain the fuels of choice - and there was plenty of oil left, he told the Royal Academy of Engineering last week. [Via Greenie Watch]

"...ozone saver is global warmer..."

The same goes for catalytic converters, these expensive pieces of platinum/palladium we (foolishly back then) thought would make greens happy, but NOT so: they turn CO into CO2, and CO2 according to the new climate-eco-religion is more damaging than any toxic substance could ever be.
