[Climate realist] John Mackey and Whole Foods : The New Yorker
One of the books on the list was “Heaven and Earth: Global Warming—the Missing Science,” a skeptical take on climate change. Mackey told me that he agrees with the book’s assertion that, as he put it, “no scientific consensus exists” regarding the causes of climate change; he added, with a candor you could call bold or reckless, that it would be a pity to allow “hysteria about global warming” to cause us “to raise taxes and increase regulation, and in turn lower our standard of living and lead to an increase in poverty.” One would imagine that, on this score, many of his customers, to say nothing of most climate scientists, might disagree. He also said, “Historically, prosperity tends to correlate to warmer temperatures.”Whole Foods' John Mackey a Climate Change Skeptic?!? Seems So. : [Believer Matthew McDermott]: TreeHugger
Accepting that there may be some nuance left out of the quotes chosen by The New Yorker, I still can't help but to put it bluntly. Mackey is crazy.Letter to the Editor: Polluted Peer Review Process - WSJ.com
Prof. Mann's rebuke of Patrick Michaels's claim that his work was not published in peer reviewed scientific journals made me chuckle. Before being discredited, Prof. Mann's infamous and misleading "hockey stick" graph of a thousand years of climate change was widely published and included in an IPPC report. It was Prof. Michaels and others who provided the statistical evidence demonstrating that Prof. Mann's graph omitted both the Medieval Warming Period (where it was as warm or warmer than today) and the Little Ice Age.weather.com Harsh, Dangerous, Long-Lasting Cold

The Eastern two-thirds of the United States will be in the grips of a long-lasting spell of harsh, arctic cold.My View Of The Terminolgy “Heating In The Pipeline” « Climate Science: Roger Pielke Sr.
We are already in the midst of the first wave of the cold air invasion. The second and likely even colder air mass will begin its descent over the eastern United States on Wednesday morning.
...With this viewpoint, there is no heat in the pipeline as all of the Joules in the atmosphere, oceans and other reservoirs of the climate system are accounted for.
