Florida: Shelters open, plants covered, zoo animals housed as we shoot for record cold stretch
Rick Roth, president of Roth Farms east of Belle Glade, said that after last year's three freezes, he's been more conservative this year about corn and green bean plantings. The farm has some young corn and bean plants in the ground, but none that are mature and close to being harvested.
...
Last year's January and February frosts were particularly harsh, with some comparing them to the freeze of 1989. Millions of dollars worth of corn, beans, tropical fruit and palm trees at farms in western Palm Beach County were wiped out.

The last time Leonard recalls it being so cold for so long in the Redland was 1989, which caused ``massive'' losses to the agriculture industry, he said.

``We will see some damage immediately, and then a week from now, we'll really see the extent of it,'' he added.

Biased BBC: BBC Spins Cherrapunji Myth
You may recall from previous postings that BBC environment editor Peter Thomson is part of the Society of Environmental Journalists which pushes a Columbia University guide on brainwashing techniques to persuade people of ‘climate change’ alarmism.
...
I think that all adds up to a bit of a smoking gun. We know that between 2003 and 2009 the BBC news top brass all became fanatical ‘climate change’ acolytes; and we know that people like Peter Thomson took up positions in AGW organisations, who in turn proselytise that reporters should find local examples of their creed. Here, from the north-eastern frontier of India, is firm evidence that there’s been a concerted effort to make sure that when it comes to lying to the world about ‘climate change’, facts should never get in the way of the BBC mission to deceive. And Mr Bhaumik, it seems, is happy to do his masters’ bidding because it ties in nicely with his anti-US venom.
