EUobserver / EU climate chief: 'No climate deal likely before 2012'
EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - Global divisions on climate are so acute that a binding UN deal is unlikely for almost another two years, Europe's new climate commissioner believes.Met Office proposes a do-over | CLIMATEGATE

...Ms Hedegaard is soon to set out on a [fossil-fueled] ‘goodwill' climate tour of the world and visit China, Brazil, and the United States, as well as attempt to "reach out" to African nations and small-island states.
Maybe they should ask the British taxpayers first if they want more money spent on more false data, which has only led them to devastating cap-and-trade legislation. And, it’s certainly doubtful they want any data that is “in collaboration with the controversial Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at Britain’s East Anglia University.”Google profits from UK.gov's climate change quango rivalry • The Register

The government department responsible for climate change policy has admitted bidding against one of its own quangos for advertising on Google, forcing up the cost to taxpayers.
Ed Miliband's Department of the Environment and Climate Change (DECC) said it sometimes battles the Energy Saving Trust to sponsor links on the dominant web search engine.
DECC has spent £361,700 in the last 12 months on search keywords such as "climate change" and "global warming" to target Google users with government publicity urging them to cut their carbon emissions.
The Energy Saving Trust has meanwhile spent more than £270,000 on similar advertising in the last 12 months.
In what may be the most expensive "spontaneous" outburst of grassroots political expression since Mao's Cultural Revolution, the old farming ministry DEFRA paid more than £8m over two years to civic society groups if they spread the correct message about Global Warming.Corroboration of Natural Climate Change by Dan Pangborn P. These included a computer game that was used so infrequently it cost £47 per go, and £160,000 for a man to drive around with a truck sign. The payouts are detailed in files released in response to Freedom of Information requests from pressure group the Taxpayers Alliance. But this is subtly different to your standard quango, taxpayer-money-down-the-pan story - in some quite interesting and non-obvious ways.
I have conducted research on the issue for thousands of hours for over three years and have determined that the belief that human activity has had a significant influence on global climate is a mistake.Judith Curry and the Credibility of Climate Research
So when a new crop of challengers on global warming arose, alarmists sounded completely tone-deaf when they described people like Steve McIntyre or Anthony Watts as paid tools of big energy. They weren’t, and this became a weakness of alarmist arguments and an unwelcome distraction from the issues. These new challengers were not only quicker off the mark in using the internet than the lumbering think tanks that had opposed global warming before. They were also better-placed and better-qualified to use the internet—and crucially, Web 2.0 tools—than the alarmist community. They were able to outmaneuver alarmists regularly and easily.Greed and desperation fuel Al Gore's spinning of the weather | GORE LIED
Anthony Watts was able to organise an ‘army of Davids’ using the internet to classify weather stations and highlight siting deficiencies in a very short time frame, doing what NOAA was required, but unable to do itself. Steve McIntyre not only dissected the analysis techniques of Michael Mann and other paleoclimatologists. He posted his calculations and code on his weblog and engaged in active discussions of his operations with commenters. Non-skeptic scientists like Roger Pielke Sr. were able to publish alternative explanations on a daily basis on his weblog, which created a cumulative effect of a viable alternative to alarmist focus on CO2 and CO2 alone as what needed to be addressed.
Gore and his fellow climate lobbyists aren’t just going to stand by and watch as the profits that were almost within their grasp are yanked off of the table via Climategate, Glaciergate et al. Using poker lingo, they are “all in” on this scam, so they don’t have a choice. Want some evidence? Let’s take a walk down memory lane:
