Environmental activist predictions have been dead wrong. In National Wildlife (July 1975), Nigel Calder warned, "... the threat of a new ice age must now stand alongside nuclear war as a likely source of wholesale death and misery for mankind." In the same issue, C.C. Wallen of the World Meteorological Organization warned, "The cooling since 1940 has been large enough and consistent enough that it will not soon be reversed."
Arizona migrant desert deaths: Dramatic 60% increase this year
The idea of dying of the cold in a desert might surprise many North Americans. But nighttime temperatures dip below freezing along the Arizona-Sonora desert border. Compared to last year, hypothermia and exposure have caused a dramatically increased number of migrant deaths since October 2009.

The toll stands now at 85 reports the Tucson-based Coalición de Derechos Humanos.
BlueNext Halts Spot CO2 Trading, ICE Bans Surrendered Credits - BusinessWeek
March 17 (Bloomberg) -- BlueNext SA halted spot trading of UN carbon credits, and IEC Futures Europe said it won’t accept already-surrendered allowances as the exchanges responded to a disconnect between the world’s biggest emissions markets.

BlueNext “ceased trading first thing this morning,” spokesman Keiron Allen said today by telephone. The exchange “temporarily stopped trading” in United Nations credits and the spot spread contract based on the difference between UN and EU carbon dioxide permits.
