The story about Seattle's city government doing a terrible job dealing with a minor snow fall was funny. My in laws lived in a very rural, hilly part of Missouri. They lived on a gravel road about 10 miles from the first paved road. They were responsible for all maintenance of this gravel road. It snows much more in Missouri than in Seattle but these not affluent farmers were able to keep this gravel road cleared of snow and passable.

It is amazing that the city of Seattle, with all its resources and money, cannot figure out a way to promptly clear their main roads.
