Carbon tax exemptions intended to offset household costs are leaving the government with fewer funds to compensate industries that will be affected by the carbon tax, and in particular could cause electricity supply problems in Victoria and South Australia if enough funds are not allocated to financing alternative energy sources once coal-fired power stations are shut down, according to The Australian.

As public charging stations are built, range anxiety should be less of an issue for EV owners. There's still another issue, however: batteries degrade over time. What gets an owner 70 miles now may get him only 50 in 5 years of ownership. Clearly, EVs have a long way to go.
