One excerpt:
"Our interpretation is that it's [the Luneau bird] an ivory bill," says Ron Rohrbaugh, director of Cornell's Ivory-Billed Woodpecker Research Project. "We've had numerous sightings from experienced wildlife biologists, who are trained observers of birds. Those are definitive, high-quality sightings. And we have acoustic evidence that suggests the bird is there."

...but the next line in the article is priceless...
"Nonetheless, the onus is on Cornell to come up with irrefutable proof. "
Isn't that what these jokers said they had a year ago!
This is a great piece of revisionist history and proof by association. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain....
Earlier in the piece Lunneau seems to alude to the fact that he saw the bird and scrambled for the video machine. In a few more years we'll have him doing reinactments where him and the nearly comatose guy in the front of the boat leap up and yell.."Lord God What a Woodpecker"
Then, Cornell's new spokesperson tries to say the video is proof because other people may have seen an IBWO someplace else. Nice.
When will it end!
>"We don't look for the bird itself so much," explains Martjan Lannertink, a research biologist. "It has a wide range and the chances of a person and a bird being in the same place are astronomically small." The video, he says, was a "planned fluke".

Hey TB, maybe you can explain what any of that excerpt means? Calling it a "planned fluke" doesn't sound good for Cornell's reputation. Not looking for the bird also seems to suggest that money is being wasted. And astronomy... well, they're all just a bit too starry-eyed.
definitive, high-quality sightings
They were neither high quality nor definitive.
"...the chances of a person and a bird being in the same place are astronomically small..."-Lannertink
These guys considing or what?
Does he realize that the definition of "astronomically small" is defined by the word "extinct"?
I have been pondering the question, “where to now”? I am here going to make a bold prediction. At the end of this year’s search, at the end of April, Dr. Fitzpatrick will make a momentous announcement.
That announcement will consist of new evidence of the existence of the IBWO, including a sharp photo of both male and female IBWO’s and new extensive video of these birds feeding at least one young in the nest hole,
And finally, just to show you why I call myself, The True Believer, I predict here before all mankind that Dr. Fitzpatrick will announce the location of a population of at least 20 pairs of woodpeckers. Basically, he will point to this population as the birds that provide all of those sighting across the southeastern U.S, which of course are just young fledglings being pushed out of adult territories at the end of the breeding season.
All of this will happen before May 10 of this year. Less than a month away. I get goose bumps just thinking about it.

Dear Anonymous above,
"planned fluke" means just that. The search was "Planned" by Dr. Fitzpatrick, the genius that heads the Laboratory, the Search, the information release, and owns the rights to any books about such.
"Fluke" refers to the fact that lessor people actually implemented the plan and got the definitive Luneau video that, of course, proves that Dr. Fitapatrick was right all along.
Any other questions?

The TB
I think we all should reflect on Lammertink's quote. Now we know why they are not finding the bird, they really aren't looking for it.
Lord God What A Mistake to let these guys run the show!
The True Believer has a devinely insperation in the form of a dream. Read below:

This is not another of you Wizard of Oz dreams again is it TB? Lets see if we can figure out how it went!
We all know Fritz was playing the part of the Great & All Knowing OZ with all the answers & the Sceptics were cast in the parts of the Wicked Witches in your dream, but which of Cornell's leadership played the parts of the Tinman, the Lion, the Scarecrow, and let me guess, all the searchers were the Munckins all dressed out in Camo riding in Canoes screaming "I see one, There it goes!"
