Since igniting a scientific frenzy last May when announcing the rediscovery the ivory-billed woodpecker, the Decatur native has had the difficult task of juggling his schedule. He needs enough time to do more research in the Arkansas swamp where he found the bird long thought extinct and to answer requests to explain the rediscovery at 41 birding programs.I suspect the video above may actually be this quarter-second flyby. That 2004 video may have already been shown to the public.
That includes his May 5 talk during the inaugural North Alabama Birding Festival. He will speak at the Holiday Inn during a $25-per-plate catfish and barbecue dinner.
"I have spoken to Audubon groups, birding festivals and at museums," Harrison said. "I have numerous programs booked for the fall. The reception from the people has been wonderful. This story has certainly touched the hearts of those that love nature."
...
Harrison said presently he can't comment about whether he's had more bird sightings, but he said he will show new video that proves the bird's existence.
"One of the videos has not yet been made public and will be shown for the first time during the catfish and barbecue dinner," he said.

The only hope for the IBWO existence is that the Cornell and partners search team is hiding irrefutable evidence until some specified media released date. Why they would hide anything irrefutable is beyond me.
Anyway, if no conclusive evidence is shown this year, these people will still continue to cash in on this "so-called" discovery. Personelly, it would be unethical for me to make money from, unless I had irrefutable proof. But as stated below in this blog...the local folks are cashing in too. I guess that is OK...because poverty is rampant down there and it is not their fault that the experts are stating the birds live in their swamps.
But the searchers....geez. Books, tours, speaking engagements. How many more books and additions/updates to books in print are forthcoming?
The Carpinterio observes that Harrison trash talks the "unbelivers":
"That is not to say there are not unbelievers ... One argument is that the first video, made by M. David Luneau Jr., an associate professor of electronics and computers at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, on April 25, 2004, is not absolutely clear, at least not to the average viewer".
The carpinterio feels so " Average today. But he is glad to see that he is in the company of other average people like David Sibley.
I have a photo of Mr. Harrison hanging in my home, among other revered Americans in my hall of heroes collection.
Another southern boy made good.
...sniff...
As a southern boy myself, I'm so proud.

I think LSU is a big part of Cornell's program, isn't it? What about Van Remsen? Isn't he at LSU? And he's been out front defending Fitz, hasn't he?
I want to know where all these other Ornithology departments stand.
Another poem I did start
Was to be just a little fart
But then I realized
Before I was criticized
It’s a crime
Fitz doesn’t rhyme
