As we Ivory Bill skeptics fade off into the twilight of what the heck do we do now.
Tom Nelson takes on a bigger animal; overpaid educational and non profit organization executives.
Here at UMASS Amherst, there 50 Vice Chancellors, 200 Asst Vice Chancellors, 1000 provosts, 300 deans, and 10 employees. Just kidding of course but you get the point.
Good luck Tom, because you are now striking at the world of hypocrisy from our Progressive side of the house. Darn those private owners whom make too much money while we are above all that stuff. Yah, right.
Historically human greed has been on display in war, genocide and slavery. The fact that it played a more benign role in the “greatest conservation story of the last century” should not be cause for celebration or rationalized by thinking that everyone does that stuff. The way the story was played up on “National Precious Radio” you would have thought that the IBWO principals were philosophers searching for the “perfect truth”. By Tom pointing out that this is just big business; it lets us know that we should be no more surprised that the IBWO does not exist than we should be when we realize that driving a certain car or drinking a certain beer does not make us any more interesting or attractive. Of course humans have next to no respect for the environment. Look at how little they have for their fellow humans.
Must I remind you Skeptics that all this "human greed" has produced the biggest story of the last 1000 years. The rebirth of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker!!
If our leaders, such as the eminent Dr. Fitzpatrick, can do that, then they deserve even more money! Right?
So instead of carping, why not do something useful. Get your butt out there to the Texas woods. The birds are there! We know it. After all we have a video that proves it.
This is America. They get paid what they get paid. There's also a difference between $200K and $20M, which is what executives of many corporations make. Of course, the prison sentence at the end of Jeff Skilling and Ken Lays careers are not being imposed by environmentalists. This is not to say that these groups stay above scrutiny. Everyone should look at administrative costs as a percentage of receipts when it comes to non-profits.

I survived the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 in the South Pacific. Can you get us some help? We're desperate!
Call the Coast Guard. This is the IBWO Skeptic blog.
Quit bothering us with your petty concerns.
What's your belief about the IBWO re discovery?
