"About to get serious"

Another article on the reward is here.

An excerpt:
The money for the reward will come from private donor Mitchell Massey, a real estate developer from Fayetteville, Ark. People who provide solid evidence will maintain rights to the evidence to use or sell as they please.

That is the best first line that I've seen yet. Fitzcrow must be madder than hell. He spent $1 million and NOW we are going to have a serious effort on $10,000!

Skewered by the TNC. What a hoot!

1 million dollars of other people's money, he doesn't care.

Certainly smacks of desperation and why doesn't Luneau and CLO get the $10,000. They should at least apply for it.

And Luneau's shipmate had no clue about the bird.

It's not the money that Fitzcrow is worried about, I agree. It's the slap in your face of "now we get serious".

That is precious.

Yes, TNC is basically saying, "the Luneau video is crap. We need something definitive."

Definitive? Haven't we heard that word before? Weren't we already past definitive? In fact, isn't there a published paper somewhere that states the IBWO was definitively seen?

Is the alien erasing our memories?

You've always got to question the motives of a developer. Perhaps he'll use this as a cheap gamble to help ease development restrictions locally. Arkansans better watch out for their favorite hunting areas.

Mr. Curunir,

That's exactly why this foolishness is bad for conservation. The truth will out, as they say. You don't need the Ivory Bill to build support for wetland conservation.

And in fact, fraud will always backfire.
