As an alien from another planet, I'm amazed at how long it took someone to go out, video PIWO's in flight, and then come in and post them to the internet.

You humans are such funny people. I was sent here to see if your race might be a threat to other planets. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Nolin, Nolin, he’s our man
He’s got Pileated in the can
Not for the money, just for the fun
He’s got Ivory-bills on the run
FLIGHT, FLIGHT, FLIGHT

Seems to me that IBWO is a pretty obvious species. Even with a glimpse, multiple field marks should be obvious. If any of these AR observers had really seen one, they would have crapped their pants in addition to breaking down and sobbing. But no, all we get is "wing pattern" and an occasional neck/back stripe. I thought basic birding skills had evolved to the point where everyone knows that you need multiple characters to confirm ID. Obviously, I was mistaken.

Anyway, with something so incredibly obvious as IBWO, if identification of the bird in the AR video comes down to personal interpretation and is not a unanimously acceptable slam dunk, then it's not proof, never was, never will be.

Besides, it's a Pileated, stupid.

As an Alien from a far away planet
You can take this as written in granite
Your Ivory Bill is not extinct
To keep it safe and distinct
We took it back to our gods
It was not safe among you CLODS.

Last night I was watching a Discovery Channel (I think) program about lake monsters, which included a segment about the "ogopogo" of Okanagan Lake, British Columbia. While watching, it was fun to insert "IBWO" whenever they said "ogopogo." So many parallels....

As I commented on the fishcrow post earlier, the best thing about the Nolan video is that it proves the fishcrow videotaped a pileated. "Hey, Mike Collins' video "evidence" can easily be put to rest by simply viewing the pileated videos that everyone is on about on birdforum. I watched the Piwo video repeatedly on windows media viewer and went frame by frame. When the bird lands in the trees it seems to do what Mike's bird supposedly did,it plays hide and seek as Collins asserts only IBWO's do. Also if you stop it frame by frame you will see the spectacular thin neck and large head and beak that he asserts id's his bird as an IBWO. Go ahead,,give it a try and you will see,Mike Collins' bird is a PIWO."

Yes, yes, I saw that National Geographic sea monsters hour. I posted about it a couple months ago. You are right. It's has all the characteristics of the Fitzcrow fiasco. Even a blurry video of the sea monsters which when magnified turned into a line of gulls feeding on the water.

What a hoot. But didn't it still end the same way? The true believers said that they were still sure it was a sea monster. Sheeeesh.
