More on the reward

Cyberthrush weighs in here. He makes an interesting point--what if crackpots and hoaxers get involved now?

Another blogger's take is here.

Yup, skeptics cause the extinction of the already extinct.

I'm jumping!

Whose with me?

Sorry but now that my 7 pairs are almost finished with their nesting, they will be wandering the entire deep South. The likelihood that these intrepid birds are going to be where you are looking approaches zero percent probability. Besides, they're impossibly wary and when they hear you, they usually head for the county line. By the time you give up searching you will be $20,000 in debt, so a $10,000 reward isn't going to make up for the months of missed work and the near-fatal snakebites. And letting all these people into the woods will probably send the birds into a manic state of wariness.
Only professionals with important and relevant degrees should search for these birds. Because you need a special degree just to understand all the secret nuances of these birds when they come within earshot of a human.
Ahhhh I feel better already. Avis Raritis isn't fatal but it hurts... I guess this is free therapy....

Just what we don't need in the
Ivory-bill search - a bunch of
crackpots and hoaxers!

Tom, Escepticos, TB's and aliens,

it is time that this blog made some headlines for offering a reward for evidence of how fitzcrow convinced so many people to keep this a secret from Jerome Jackson.

it will be an honor system reward.

Tom Nelson will be the decider. All you have to do is get firm evidence that Fitzcrow intentionally kept the nation's expert on this bird out of the picture so that he could be credited with the find and own all the copyrights to those pictures with all the small trees ...

Tom will forward the evidence to Jack Hitt or Leslie Peacock ... and announce a fundraising goal for the skeptic community ... which by now is pretty much everyone except CLODS ...

I think Cyberlush meant the non certificated crackpots and hoaxers.

You academics can carry on.

I have a video of a two headed IBWO. It bores holes right through both sides of the tree at the same time. Now that's rare!

Ah, Methinks1 thinks that none other than Cyberthrush thinks that The Greatest Conservation Organizarion In The World is an Organization of Skeptics.

I love it, we got Fishcrow and the Cuckoo from Illinoise (Jesse somebody) out trouncing about, and Cybercrow is worried that someone inept may go out to look!

I'm with Carpinterio. A bounty for the copy of the email that outs Fitzcrow's diabolical scheme to prevent Jackson from getting any "credit" for the IBWO "rediscovery".

That is the truely fascinating story that needs to be told.

Shout if from the Treetops Carpentario!! You are so right - the reward for the CLO Fraud...

....for info on how Jackson and the likes of Kaufman Dunn Sibley et al were left out, on how they rehabilitated the video, how they vetted the encounters, how they got $$ from big donors, how they delayed publication of TG's book, how they manipulated the stiff-winged models, when they knwe they only had a PIWO and pushed it anyway. Etc etc etc

There are people out there who know this and so much more.

Methinks it is great.

Does anyone know if Leslie Peacock at is working on this angle?

It makes more sense for it to come from a southern reporter - and I think for her this could be a good story.

Her people have been duped by these yankees who deliberately cut their own expert, Jackson, out of the action.

Massey's can milk this reward for all it is worth since he started at such a low number, every time he gets a buddy to join on they will issue another press release, "reward for proof of ivory bill increased to $________" ... heck they don't even have to print a new press release, they can just xerox one with a blank and keep writing the number in.

Each time the story will float out on the AP wire, and each time Fitzcrow and the others under seige in Ithaca will get a few more calls.

Eventually the press will run the story and there will be a "we made a mistake" admission, just to make it all go away ...

Massey is a genius. $10,000 every few months keeps this a fresh news story.
