Here is a good ID-Frontiers post by Ted Floyd, editor of Birding magazine.
Floyd's post helps explain why it is preposterous to claim an ultra-rare bird ID based on a single apparent fieldmark.

Well, I'm going to post here because that big fat zero keeps staring at me. ( as in 0 Comments)
Ted Floyd is way to good a person to be posting on this subject. He seems to be under the impression that logic is of some use at this late stage.
Well, Floyd let me save you some time. We are basically down to the last folks on birdforum. One of them honestly thinks that 100 to 150 IBWO must still exist in the U.S. One of them has multiple sightings along the Pearl and is still in his office instead of out in the field videoing the heck out of them and thus making himself more famous that Jesus.
The rest are so clueless that it would be easy to see them spending the morning looking for IBWO and their afternoons looking for the Loch Ness monster. (Yes, I know. They are in different countries. But believe me, these folks would find a way!)
Need I go on?
I'll post so you won't be alone.
