An interview with Ron Rohrbaugh, director of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker Research Project at CLO, is available here.
About half way through this segment, Rohrbaugh says that the seven alleged IBWO sightings were "very top-quality sightings" by "professional ornithologists".
According to Rohrbaugh, the birds were seen through "high-quality optics"; he also claims that "multiple fieldmarks on the bird were seen".

I really don't care if he keeps digging the hole deeper for him and CLO, but then he justifies what it means to "rediscover" the IBWO as "...gives an incredible amount of hope to the conservation community...."
We don't need no stinkin' artificial fake discovery to continue our "hope" in conservation. And in that phrase of his is the real contention now between Skeptics and Believers.
That we Skeptics are hurting the conservation cause by making our doubts public. In reality, the real world as opposed to the bizarro world that these fellows live in, they are doing real harm to real conservation.
"They gave hope....", what a crock!

Did he add something about how the listener might want to check out the links to "high-quality optics" on the CLO website (where three of the four corporate sponsors sell optics). Oh, if only these people had standards of the same quality as their optics and marketing savvy then no one would even be discussing this "rediscovery".
I personally hope the next bird brought back from extinction is seen through a pair of $25 Tasco binocs - which still would provide a better image than the Luneau video.
