NPR covers the story here.
Cornell's flimsy evidence was remarkably similar to Auburn's flimsy evidence, but NPR's coverage is starkly different this time around.
The "commuters forced to pull over because of tears of joy" problem should be minimal today.

It's a giant case of Observer Expectation Bias. It will be used as an example in Statistics cases for years to come.
Can't believe Auburn went down this path. If they don't have a photo after 18 months of sightings, when will they?
We are making progress. Jim Fitzpatrick announces his sighting in the Pearl and no one even cares anymore.
Auburn announces "birds all up and down the river" and the press goes "oh hum...yawn".
This bird is finally going back to "extinct" in the minds of Americans.
I'd say that airport is toast now. There is no way NRDC and the Sierra Club cannot sue the guv'ment to stop it.
The planes will be roaring right over the birds that "are all up and down the river".
St. Joe would have better luck getting it built in the middle of the Everglades now!
I was one of the "hundreds" who had to pull over during my commute a year and a half ago when I first heard the news on NPR. Now its not tears, but saddness that I feel with this announcement. These poor Auburn guys are going to get royally roasted.
I was also in tears when I heard the news.
LMFAO.
