Dr. Hill is educated but stupid. What a great combination. Led him to career destruction.

Now Fitzcrow is educated and smarter. Note that he never claimed to see an Ivory Bill. He only relied on "trusted" colleagues and friends. Fitzcrow has what Nixon didn't have, plausible deniability.

I still would love to know if Fitzcrow urged Hill to publish. That sly Fitzcrow! You've got to hand it to him!

Seeing as the Chockfullaibwoatche is now going to be a free-for-all, it would be nice if "competent" birders who visit the area report their (I'm expecting) negative results in a public forum so as to counterbalance the anticipated barrage of BS data from the "semi-competents" and "incompetents."

In flight, ivory-bills show white feathers along both leading and trailing edges of their wings. Pileateds have white feathers only along the leading edge.

Oh, yeah. This guy knows how to ID Pileateds in flight.

I like Mr. Atwell, he's been seeing them since 1951 or at least hearing them or at least thinks he's been hearing them or hearing something that probably isn't but he thinks it is.

Has there ever been such an elusive bird in world history?

Another 100 bucks to the guy who came up with "nophotograbius" or whatever it was.

"The birds are -- some argue were -- the continent's largest woodpeckers"

Wait a second... Wouldn't that be the Imperial Woodpecker's title?

What ever happened to that $10,000 TNC was giving out? Did fishcrow collect that yet?

Even today Hill talks about a very promising cavity -- it appeared to be freshly excavated -- in a tupelo that might have been compromised because researchers showed too much interest.
"That cavity really haunts me," he said. "We think we may have scared away a bird."

My favorite part!! Yep, scared it away! By golly, that explains it! Gonna have to be real quiet next time!

Ahh HAAA HAAAA!

What was it you said? Stupid? Delusional? Full of crap?
