The talk wound down to the ivory-billed woodpecker of course. As Jeff was showing the footage of the Lunneau video, I was thinking to the first time I saw it last year at the Rio Grande fest and how I was excited and full of hope and couldn't wait for the adventure of going to Arkansas. Now watching the footage again and being slowed down I was a tad jaded and depressed--we didn't have better footage to show for it yet, I truly thought it would be different this year, hope can be so fleeting sometimes. Plus, watching the slow motion of the wing beats on the video compared to a pileated woodpecker reminded me of the whole "back and to the left" of the Kennedy assassination. Come on, Florida, get us a GOOD photo.

Ahhh....the Birdchick...making the world safe from geeks. Wasn't sure the birding world needed to be free of geeks but, still, if it's important to her then it must be important to us.
But don't "geeks get the job done and nerds don't"? Isn't that the Earthlink commercial? So maybe she means to make the world safe from nerds.
I just wish she would join the Auburn search team this year. We need her so badly. Soooooo badly.
”reminded me of the whole "back and to the left" of the Kennedy assassination”
And just as with the Zapruder-Kennedy film the Luneau-IBWO video is being manipulated by those whose have political goals that are best met with a specific interpretation of the images.
The Kennedy assassination seems more and more like ancient history to those alive at the time (and that certainly doesn’t include Birdchick) and the fact that it occurred almost two decades after the last IBWO sightings makes you realize just how fantastic that 21st century IBWO claims are.
