The staff at the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology would like to thank you for your application to participate in the search for the Ivory-billed Woodpecker. We were amazed and elated by the number of incredible birders and outdooorspeople wishing to contribute to this effort. Because of an overwhelming response from applicants, we regret that we are unable to offer a position to you and many other qualified and enthusiastic volunteers. It was an extremely difficult selection process and we're truly sorry that we cannot offer you a space this season. We wish we could accommodate everyone, but we were constrained by limitations of housing, field equipment, and full-time staff for training volunteers.A related post is here.

It's *fun* to fart around in the woods, especially if it's a co-ed effort.

Hey! Not nice! Serious question though... why are people on this blog so mean to anyone that believes in the Ivorybill? It's simply a matter of opinion, and should not be taken to such extremes...

Haven't you read the nasty things the TBs say about us? You should check out the archives of birdforum or cyberthrush's blog sometime. Many people have actually blamed skeptics for CAUSING the IBWO extinction!
