The paper's "debunking" examples are a little bit misleading. For example the so called Hobbit people, a possible hominid that evolved on an island in modern day Indonesia has not been debunked. There are reputable anthropologists on both sides of this issue. Basically there are two competing hypotheses (new species or modern humans with a genetic flaw). Since the skeletons have definitely been found, it is not a question of existence, but a question of interpretation. This contrasts well with the Ivory-Billed for which there is no solid evidence they exist, while the only people saying they do appear to be delusional!
