An excerpt from this notice:

The Choctawhatchee Audubon Society is planning a picnic, bird walk and ivory-billed woodpecker search on Aug. 18 at Morrison Springs.

The site is north of Bruce and south of Ponce de Leon.

Meet at Badcocks Furniture in Niceville at 7:30 a.m. to carpool, or at 9 a.m. at the springs.

Bring lunch, swimsuits, snorkeling gear and kayaks.
On a related note, check out the IBWO stuff on page two of the November 2006 newsletter here.

"swimsuits, snorkeling gear and kayaks"

The IBWOs and their searchers are transitioning to a fully aquatic lifestyle. Soon only Steve Zissou himself will be able to find them.

The real purpose of the swimsuits and snorkeling gear is to experience the still-secret Great Auk rediscovery in the Choctawhatchee. There are rumors that Prof. Hill will make the astounding anouncement in that unfilled 5th slot in his AOU Session on 11 Aug. Distant watery photos will be shown!
