Swampblog posts

From a post by John Mariani yesterday:
The Ivory-billed Woodpecker is apparently extinct again...
A couple of Mariani's previous IBWO-related posts are here and here.

I like Mr. Mariani's blog. And his instinct on the IBWO has always been carefully thought out and scientific. He never was sucked in by all the hype.

From his May 8, 2006 entry:

I've heard Blue Jays that sound like Ivory-bills, and there are other woodpecker and mammal species that engage in bark stripping. I'm a skeptic and I want definitive proof. Give me one good photograph, or a documented sighting (with full details) by multiple qualified observers.

Sounds like a level-headed guy.
