Note that this is a Linnaean Society talk for a general audience including amateur naturalists, not a scientific talk sponsored by the AMNH ornithology department.

Indeed. The only thing arguably prestigious about the modern Linnaean Society of NY is its meeting place. Oh, and you can't just join; you have to be sponsored. Speaking of sponsorship, Hill is a "Fellow" of AOU, meaning that he's been doubly sponsored.

Seems that Groucho Marx had it right, "I would not join any club that would have someone like me for a member."
