Dear Louis, Is it OK to ask this question when the life of the rarest woodpecker is at stake?

Are the depictions by Fitzpatrick et al. (sketches [2005] and photo montages [2006]) reasonable approximations of reality for an hypothesized Ivory-billed Woodpecker perched more or less upright on a tree trunk?

Do you know how hard it is to get the (former) head of Goldman Sachs to return my calls now? Do you have no idea how hard it is to raise my budget, with $25 checks ... I hope you have tenure at whatever podunk U that thinks it is safe to mess with me.

You really have to ask, why did they feel they needed physical evidence? Why? Why not just say they saw the bird and hand in the field notes??
