"Tales of close encounters with ivory-billed woodpeckers"

Here.

Note this curious paragraph:
The Louisiana ivorybills spent their time in the treetops, on the high ridges, and out in the sunshine in places with lots of dead trees. They flew high — not low and not close to the ground. And none were seen flying up from the ground or feeding on tree trunks near the ground like pileated woodpeckers do. These ivorybills were not seen near the water in the dark, shaded haunts of the nearby cypress swamp. Jim Tanner said, “The ivorybill is a dweller of the treetops and sunshine.”
