I've been reading these posts re: global climate change with interest. I just want to be sure that I'm understanding their point. They agree that there is a warming trend (at least in the northern hemisphere) but the thinking is it has more to do with an irregular orbit of the earth and an irregular sun output and less to do with fossil fuel emissions, correct? If so, then the confusion that will arise is, folks not understanding how severe a problem this warming trend is? And also, how much value there is in adhering to the Kyoto Protocol or other such carbon footprint-reducing initiatives? I'd love to see these points clarified.

I'd say the simple answers are "yes" and "yes" to your first two questions.
I'm planning one or more posts on the Kyoto cost/benefit. For now, I'd say it seems quite likely that the "benefit" from adhering to Kyoto would be a global temperature reduction (by 2050) too small to measure.
So you're saying all the carbon burning we've been doing has had no effect on the earth?
