Hey, Ilya Maclean

Hi Ilya,

Ok, I'm going to take the time to tell you very specifically why I didn't accept your comment regarding this post.

Here's the reason: While the post's author very clearly points out (multiple times) that he's talking specifically about the 21st century, you went off on a near-insane rant that the post was a "complete lie" since the data didn't apply to the 20th century.

Just to make this more clear for you, I should probably point out that the 20th century and the 21st century are two different centuries.

The post in question is short and clearly written, and your complete failure to comprehend his meaning is puzzling to say the least.

We all make mistakes, but I'm sorry to say that this is not an isolated incident for you. You've consistently shown similar comprehension problems in our public and private conversations regarding global warming.

I don't know what your problem is and I don't really care, but I strongly suspect that on this particular subject, you are blinded by ideology.

Anyway, it's clear to me that further global warming discussions with you are simply not a good use of my time.

Regards,
Tom

Update: Ok, as expected, Ilya has responded with yet another ad hominem attack. This is what people tend to do when they're completely unable to argue their points using facts and logic.

His one attempt at using a "fact" is rather amusing--he said something like "the last time I checked, the 21st century began in the year 2000". I'd like to point out two things:

1. This is essentially irrelevant to Ilya's original rant, which was about years well before 2000.

2. The 21st century did not, in fact, begin in the year 2000.

An excerpt from this link:
The 21st century is the present century of the Anno Domini (common) era, in accordance with the Gregorian calendar. It began on January 1, 2001 and will end December 31, 2100. A common misconception is that it started in 2000 and will end in 2099.
