Senator Amy Klobuchar displays her lack of knowledge on global warming

Yesterday afternoon, I heard WCCO radio's Don Shelby interview Senator Amy Klobuchar about global warming. Shelby is clearly not a right-winger, but to his credit, he asked Klobuchar some good questions about global warming hysteria.

For example, he asked about the science concerning natural temperature changes that the Earth has clearly seen many times in the past. Incredibly, Klobuchar first replied that you only have to go outside or "talk to resort owners" to see the effects of human warming in Minnesota. Later, she did admit that "I don't think anyone can say specifically what's manmade and what isn't".

Shelby also said that the conservatives and "perhaps some Democrats" feared that a cap-and-trade plan could "put people out of business". Klobuchar launched into an inane anecdote about visiting a 10-employee solar company in Minnesota and "jumping up and down" on their solar panels to show that they can withstand hail damage. She suggests that cap-and-trade would result in job gains for Minnesota, and "if we don't develop this technology, they're going to do it in China".

Note that in an op-ed published yesterday, Klobuchar claimed that "The [climate change] science is clear".

As a member of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, Klobuchar owes it to her constituents (and herself) to become much better informed about the science of global warming.
