Taking a swing at global warming
Think the Everglades deal is a big deal? Check out this item from the governor's press shop heralding the "first carbon-neutral Major League Baseball game in the Southeast between the Florida Marlins and the Tampa Bay Rays in Miami."
The game takes place tonight, on the eve of Crist's Serve to Preserve Florida Summit on Global Climate Change.
More than 440 metric tons of carbon dioxide are expected to be emitted throughout the game -- generated from travel, stadium operations and lodging associated with the team and the fans expected to attend. This carbon footprint will be offset by investing in reforestation projects in the Southeast, the release says.

I guess the intellectual giants that dreamed up this idea don't realize that the trees planted today will eventually release their carbon dioxide for another generation to deal with. I thought this was all about saving the planet for future generations, silly me.
