Callahan said the purpose of the power industry plan is to show Congress that it is moving faster than technology and that it needs to take a hard look at the science before passing the bill.

Callahan said reports of a scientific consensus about global warming are untrue.

“The big question — where the scientists really split — is, ‘Is man causing the heat-up or is it just a natural cycle of the earth?’” Callahan said. “There is a lot of difference in opinion as to exactly what’s causing it and why it’s causing it and if we can even do anything about it.”

Callahan compared blind belief in global warming to the idea centuries ago that the earth was flat and that the sun revolved around the earth.
