Singed by hot-button issues | The Courier-Mail
Wrapping himself in a warm, fluffy green mantle to guard against Canberra's winter chill, the PM told Parliament that high fuel costs and climate change demanded the Government act to promote the production of a hybrid car.
Rudd's announcement might make good political sense by allowing the Government to trumpet its bright green environmental credentials, the same credentials which have begun to take on a pale, weathered hue.
Alas, he might as well pile $500 million in stacked, $100 notes on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, douse it in $1.55 a litre unleaded petrol and put a match to it for the scheme reeks of political posturing and will be an absolute waste of public money.
