The Queen is to try to cut her spiralling fuel bill by resurrecting a £1 million scheme to supply Windsor Castle with hydroelectric power from the River Thames.
With her numerous royal residences facing rising fuel prices, the monarch is determined to cut costs while helping to save the environment by using green electricity rather than burning fossil fuels that cause pollution.
Her annual bill for gas, electricity and water last year was £2.4 million so it should come as no surprise that she is anxious to keep the costs down.
