Frost covered most of southern Queensland this morning, but it is still unclear how much of the far north was affected.
The weather bureau in Cairns is yet to get reports about frost and says it is more likely to form by tomorrow.
Potato growers who lost millions of dollars when frost damaged crops on the Tablelands last year have been preparing for chilly conditions.
Agronomist Paul Keevers says there has been aerial spraying to protect crops over the past few days.
