JS Online: Yes, we can drill our way out — and should
Senator, we, in fact, can drill our way out. Actually, we must — or risk prolonged hard times. There is enough oil for decades without importing any, once production is ramped up. A whole lot of us would have to live like the Amish to offset the increasing demand of China and India, and I do not foresee Al Gore churning butter.
You advocate alternative energy sources without knowing what they are! This is the real world, sir, where 500 million motors run on oil, and it heats tens of millions of homes. Tapping oil reserves is not a waste of time; not tapping them is. You state as fact that drilling will lead to more environmental damage than good. That’s like worrying about lightning on sunny days.
Finally, when a businessman tells you that demand affects supply and demand but supply doesn’t, what you have is a dishonest businessman.
