States like California -- one of the first states with 100 percent participation in the challenge -- are getting donor help. California is sending 844 people, 441 of whom are delegates, and it is one of many western states to contend for recognition in the challenge. The state is partnering with Pacific Gas & Electric and The Conservation Fund to offset their carbon footprint.
Alabama's official delegation includes 78 delegates, alternates and standing committee members. In addition, the party estimates that many of the state's Democratic elected officials, county chairs, college members and local community activists will be in attendance bringing Alabama's representation to about 300 people. To cover the delegates would cost about $585.
