Are geologists more sensible?

RealClimate
I didn't attend the [International Geological Congress] meeting myself, but the scientific programme for the session on climate, shows that the 'climate contrarians' were quite well represented. The organizers probably wanted to give room to “other views”. Together with web cast of the panel discussion on climate change (by the way, you may need Windows to view this because of the video format…), the proportion of attendees with a skeptical attitude to the notion of anthropogenic global warming appeared to be notably higher than in other conferences, such as the European Geosciences Union or European Meteorological Society, or indeed the scientific literature. So be it.

Thanks for the link - I was looking for an example of the sort of RC snarkiness that undermined their credibility in my view and eventually turned me off the site entirely.
Geologists have an appreciation of time and change over time and we don’t need to rely on computer models that change every year to accomodate previously unrecognised influences on climate. [edit]
The world changes constantly and you can’t ignore that big ball of fire in the sky or the odd volcanic eruption or meteor strike!)

[Response: Greenhouse gases are ‘previously unrecognised’? Only if you lived in the 18th Century….. - gavin]"

Note that the commenter never said 'greenhouse gasses' - he could have meant things like albedo and so on. Then the snark about the 18th century, when the commenter emphasized the importance of the long-view.

Give that guy enough rope and for sure he'll dig the grave for the AGW hypothesis himself.

Oops mixed metaphor - my bad. Shouldn't be enough rope - but a big enough shovel...
