British Coal-fired power plant company Drax has had its profits plunge by almost half as it now has to pay carbon credits for being the largest single carbon polluting station. Drax spent 107 million pounds this year under the European emissions trading scheme when carbon allocations were reduced. The company paid about 11 million pounds last year. So now we know that the target of the global warming movement is big industry and their objective is to run them out of business.

The sociological lesson is that most of the people can easily be wrong and most papers written about a subject may be wrong, too. The more fashionable it becomes to write wrong papers of a certain type, the higher the expectation value of the number of wrong papers will be. ;-)

Last week, the crop report predicted a slightly above-average yield, but crops are approximately two weeks behind in many areas, mainly due to a cool, late spring.

"Can they get the crop off in decent shape would be their primary concern," said Bedard, noting hard frosts have come in August in previous years.
