I have always wanted to travel to Antarctica. Such beauty, such alien landscapes! I’ve had my taste of cold weather, too; I live in Colorado, after all, and have lived in Michigan.

But somehow, this video makes me less eager to head on down...

I lived in the Arctic for a few years, working the DEW Line and then as a teacher in a remote, air-access only village.

That kind of weather happens up North as well. If you go outside for any reason, you get roped off and the funny thing is you can't stand up - your balance system goes bonkers in the great whiteout and you have to crawl on all fours.

What I remember most from the big storms is the sound and power of the wind. Very scary at times.
