But that's a pretty low bar

The Galaxy Poll, commissioned by the Greens in the run-up to next Saturday's NSW local council elections, suggests most voters would support a $25-a-year council levy for measures such as solar power, bicycle paths and water recycling technology.

Max Phillips, the Greens' election campaign co-ordinator, said with 69 per cent of the 290 respondents in favour of increasing rates to fund projects limiting climate change, "it is clear people want councils to do more to reduce our greenhouse emissions, even if it means a rise in rates".
