North hottest for 1500 years | The Australian
THE northern hemisphere is hotter now than at any time in the past 1500 years, according to the most comprehensive reconstruction of the earth's temperature over the last two millenniums.
It's likely the southern hemisphere is also warmer than ever although data is sketchier, claim US and British scientists.
While the new research also concluded that the so-called Medieval warmth from 950-1100 was hotter than previously thought, the last decade was hotter still.
"The findings deeply reinforce the incontrovertible conclusion that we are warming rapidly outside natural variability," said climiate scientist Andy Pitman, co-director of the Climate Change Research Centre at the University of NSW.
The new findings come from a team led by Michael E. Mann, director of the Environmental Systems Institute at Pennsylvania State University in University Park.

Reputable academic journals in Physics and such disciplines, take a very hard line on any author that has deliberately fudged data. The author is banned from publication in that journal.
Not just that, but the offending author gets a public caning. The author's scientific career is thus brought to a halt.
If therefore, "Climatology" journals still publish papers by Mann, then they are not reputable scientific journals, or "Climatology" itself is not a reputable science.
Mann's credibility in the scientific community is shot. Mann and his associates have repeated refused to disclose their methodology. When it does come to light, their temperature reconstructions turn out to be utter nonsense. The famous hockey stick was dropped from IPCC reports due to methodology. More recently, Briffa's hockey stick seems to be suffering the same fate. Now I'm reading about hockey sticks made from inverted data. ALL this while stonewalling any attempt to objectively review their methodology.
