Cool, wet weather delays Washington wheat harvest
REARDAN, Wash. -- Eastern Washington's wheat harvest is about two weeks behind schedule after cool and rainy weather, the latest in a string of frustrations and disappointments for once-optimistic farmers.Washington - Growers finish smallest cherry crop in 8 years
WENATCHEE — The Pacific Northwest finished a difficult cherry season Aug. 17, harvesting just 9.3 million 20-pound boxes of cherries, the smallest crop in eight years.
Spring frost and poor pollination due to lengthy cool spring weather cut the crop nearly in half from early expectations of 16 million to 17 million boxes.
