Green Shift? What Green Shift?

Dion's campaign suffering a 'Truth Shift'
Speaking on a farm Friday, where he had come to announce yet another billion in green initiatives, Liberal Leader Stephane Dion insisted the Green Shift is not now and never was a major plank in his party's election platform.

Pardon me!?

"You have said it was," Dion told reporters, "but never me."

Ah, I see. The whole thing was a media plot.

Just how dumb does Dion think Canadian voters are?

If the Green Shift and its carbon tax scheme are not the principal plank in the Liberal platform, you'd be hard pressed to tell from Dion's words and actions. Indeed, you'd be hard pressed to name a single other Liberal policy.

Since the plan's launch on June 19, Dion and his caucus and candidates have talked of little else.

Green Shift was the first Liberal policy to get a high-profile launch prior to the election. In fact, it was the only one to get a complete launch -- news release, photo ops, national press conference, specially designed logos and branding, national speaking tour and 45-page policy guide -- before there was ever any hint of a fall election.
