Lehman Brothers Close Ties to Gore, Hansen and Carbon Trading

ICECAP
Al Gore’s carbon trading business GIM was banked with Lehman Bros. It will be interesting to see how this will play in the future but I suspect that this increases the risk of participating in Carbon trading. Merrill Lynch, was also deeply involved in this business.

Last year Lehman Brothers released a long and highly publicized report about climate change in which they preached about decarbonization, trying to make their investors keep getting high profits from the Kyoto carbon trade scheme and the support of huge public subventions. All that, of course, with the applause of the usual choir of politicians, the entire media and the Greens.

A year ago they couldn’t predict their bankruptcy but were predicting the climate 100 years ahead. Thousands of green militants have been using the Lehman report as a proof of global warming and impending chaos. Lehman Bros said it! sacred words! Its scientific advisor is James Hansen! The report is the basis for policies on climate change in Spain, Argentina and several other countries playing the progress game; it is used by economy professors playing the climatologists; by newspapers editorials, and even by a State Secretary: Lehman Bros, said it!
...
But the story has some connections with Hansen being the ‘scientific’ adviser to Al Gore, who’s the Chairman of the Board of the Alliance for Climate Protection. As seen in Alliance’s website, the managing Director is none less than: Theodore Roosevelt IV. Managing Director, Lehman Brothers, Chair of the Pew Center for Global Climate Change.

Theodore Roosevelt IV is Managing Director at Lehman Brothers and a member of the Firm’s senior client coverage group, which oversees the Firms client and customer relationships. Mr. Roosevelt is an active conservationist. He is Chair of the Pew Center for Global Climate Change, Vice Chair of the Wilderness Society, and a Trustee for the American Museum of Natural History, The World Resources Institute, the Institute for Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming, and a Trustee of Trout Unlimited.
Note again what Chris Horner asked here
. . . is this a bad time to ask where [the Alliance for Climate Protection] got that $300 million . . . ?
League of Conservation Voters Education Fund and California League of Conservation Voters Education Fund Launch First Network of Politically Active Donors Organized to Elevate An Issue in a Presidential Election
WASHINGTON, DC - The League of Conservation Voters Education Fund and the California League of Conservation Voters Education Fund today announced the kick-off of the Presidential Leadership Network (PLN), comprised of influential donors from across the nation and across party lines set on making global warming a priority for the next president of the United States.

PLN members, many of whom already have a history of significant leadership on this critical issue, are gathering a strong group of significant donors to personally highlight the importance of altering the course of global warming with the presidential candidates.

"Donors are often taken seriously for their financial support and less so for their public policy commitments, which is what makes this project so unique," League of Conservation Voters Education Fund President Gene Karpinski said. "We believe this is the first group of donors organized to elevate any issue during a presidential election, and in particular, where each member is urging candidates to understand the need for the U.S. to address global warming at a presidential level."

The donors involved in the Presidential Leadership Network are briefing the candidates in private meetings, at fundraisers and house parties, and in letters and phone calls. Leading the PLN are the following Co-Chairs: Robert Redford, Teddy Roosevelt IV, Laura Turner Seydel, Larry Rockefeller, Laurie David, former Representative Sherry Boehlert (R-NY), and Vinod Khosla.

"Global warming is a challenge of leadership," Theodore Roosevelt IV said. "As donors, we are playing our part to help cultivate that leadership."
Theodore Roosevelt IV tilts for windmills
Here's more food for thought: Now a great-grandson of TR's, Theodore Roosevelt IV, has entered the fray over the proposed wind-energy project off Cape Cod.

As managing director of Lehman Brothers, Roosevelt is leading the financing deal for the $700-million-or-so 130-turbine, 468-megawatt Cape Wind project at Horseshoe Shoal, in Nantucket Spound.
Florida Governor Caps Climate Summit With Cleaner Energy Policy
The summit brought together policy makers, academics, scientists, environmentalists and the business community to discuss the impact of climate change in Florida.

Robert Kennedy Jr., Theodore Roosevelt IV, venture capitalist Vinod Khosla, and Earthjustice Executive Director Buck Parker, met with Governor Crist, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and other policy leaders in a roundtable to discuss future legislation and agency standards for Florida.
