Making a huge "climate" statement

Schools' Boost - Business - redOrbit
MORE schools are being given the chance to receive free solar panels worth pounds 20,000.

As part of the second phase of the Co-operative Green Energy for Schools scheme, a further 60 schools are to benefit.

Any surplus cash from the scheme will be spent on wind turbines, biomass boilers and ground source heat pumps.

The panels, installed by energy company SolarCentury, are funded by the Co-operative and the Government's Low Carbon Building Programme.

Co-operative's Patrick Allen, said: "We believe that solar panels and wind turbines at a school make a huge climate change statement."
