Some sanity in California

City Council will study global warming bill : Local : Redding Record Searchlight
Vice Mayor Rick Bosetti said Redding should do everything possible to fight AB 32, SB 375 and other greenhouse gas legislation.

"It's the beginning of the taking away of our local authority," Bosetti said. "At some point we won't be able to plan our own cities and communities, all in the name of global warming."

Council member Ken Murray said he "abhors the stripping of local land use decisions by the state of California."

Murray dismissed the cap and trade provisions of AB 32 — where firms exceeding emissions limits can purchase the right to keep polluting from industries that meet the targets — as "a joke that doesn't eliminate anything, but just moves the problem some place else."
