Prince Charles asks travel industry to consider environmental impact
GRAN CANARIA - Prince Charles is urging the travel industry to do more to inform consumers about the environmental consequences of tourism.
In a video address to the annual Travel Convention hosted by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), currently taking place in Gran Canaria, the Prince of Wales said it is going to require a 'heroic' effort from travel brands to educate holidaymakers about the damage they are causing to the environment.

Well I live on Gran Canaria which is a top tourist location and where the conference was and I can tell you that local business are very aware of the problems.
Nobody wants their business to go under and it is tourists that make it. Oh sure there are some short sighted individuals who just want a profit today, but on the whole people are here for the long term.
We have seen other down turns in the past and it isn't funny to be having a restaurant or, like me, work for a fishing tour and find there are no customers!
