Gallup makes up a "fact"
The issue of global warming may be affecting Japanese opinion of U.S. leadership. In 2001, Bush withdrew the United States from the Kyoto Protocol, and he has been consistently critical about the framework throughout his presidency.
The Calgary Sun - Global warming doubters targeted
Breaking down local petroleum industry skepticism over global warming is one goal of a Banff conference of earth scientists, says its chairman.

An international roster of leading climatologists will discuss how natural change differs from man-made causes of global warming that are becoming increasingly difficult to deny, said Dr. Andrew Miall, a petroleum geology professor and chairman of the three-day Gussow-Nuna Geoscience Conference, which began yesterday.

While there's no doubt natural variations play a role in climate change, it's becoming clear humans are also contributing and the conference will attempt to illuminate those realities, said Miall.

"We can see the human influence over top of what's going on naturally," said the University of Toronto professor, who once worked in Calgary's oilpatch.

It's important society tackles the issue of fossil fuel use not just for the sake of addressing global warming, added Miall.
