Britain is being gripped by a biting cold snap - the coldest in October for five years - bringing the first frosts of season.

Temperatures across much of the country plummeted to below zero on Monday night and some parts of the UK even got a dusting of snow.

It is set to get even colder on Wednesday with northerly winds being dragged in straight from Iceland.

China to host yet another global climate conference in November
Beijing, Oct 28 (Xinhua) China in collaboration with the UN will organise a two-day global conference on climate change here in November, officials said Tuesday. Around 100 countries and international non-government organisations will participate in the high-level conference Nov 7-8, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said.
