David King: Hot Girls and Cold Continents « Climate Audit
“Antarctica is likely to be the world’s only habitable continent by the end of this century if global warming remains unchecked, the government’s chief scientist, Professor Sir David King said last week. He said the Earth was entering the ‘first hot period’ for 60 million years when there was no ice on the plane and “the rest of the globe could not sustain human life”.

Although it is quite cold here, those temps are pretty far off. I'm not sure where Weather Underground is getting there data, but they're off by dozens of degrees. Or, they are listing the windchill temp.
We are definitely NOT expecting -100°F for the rest of the year (we didn't even hit -100°F during the heart of the dark winter).
As of 13:46 EST, it is -70°F (-111°F with the windchill.)
From Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station,

Thanks.
Weather Underground currently lists the temperature at -71F; I'm sure those are not windchill temps.
What's your prediction for the coldest temperature you'll see between now and Saturday night?
Sorry for the delay; lost the sat connection by the time I got the answer...
The official meteorologist at the Amundsen-Scott station says:
"Tim,
According to the model it will be coldest today at about -78 F. The model projects out to Saturday showing temps between -76 and -60 F, but that is a long way out and probably not accurate"
